Ahead of the 2027 general elections, former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has directed his supporters to vote for candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) across all elective positions.

The directive was conveyed by the party’s North-West Vice Chairman, Hafsat Baba, during a coalition meeting involving various support groups loyal to the former governor in Kaduna State.

El-Rufai also urged his supporters to maintain unity, peace and respect for the law while mobilising support for the ADC ahead of the elections.

Speaking at the meeting, Baba explained that the directive covers the presidential, governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections across all 23 local government areas of Kaduna State.

She added that the meeting was organised to unite the different support groups and coordinate their political activities ahead of the 2027 polls.

The ADC chieftain further revealed that the coalition planned to create a comprehensive database of El-Rufai’s supporters across the state and maintain regular engagements to strengthen its mobilisation efforts.

According to her, the supporters remained committed to preserving the former governor’s legacy, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare and empowerment.

Baba also raised concerns over the security situation in parts of Kaduna State, specifically identifying Birnin Gwari, Giwa and Millennium City as areas requiring increased security attention.

She called on security agencies to step up efforts to safeguard residents and protect property across the state.

The party chieftain further alleged that more than 30 of El-Rufai’s supporters had been arrested about two weeks before the meeting. She questioned what she described as repeated arrests of the former governor’s loyalists and urged security agencies to remain neutral and carry out their duties in line with the Constitution.
