President Bola Tinubu has praised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following commendation from the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) over Nigeria’s role in a joint operation targeting international sextortion networks accused of exploiting minors.

The President’s commendation came after FBI Director Kash Patel wrote to EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede, recognising the Commission’s support for Operation Artemis, a joint investigation focused on criminal networks involved in the sexual exploitation and extortion of children.

The operation led to the arrest and extradition of two Nigerian suspects, Adebola Festus Adekunle and Mudasiru Afeez Olawale, to the United States in August 2026, where they are facing federal charges.

In his letter, Patel praised the EFCC’s assistance and commitment to international law enforcement cooperation, noting that the successful prosecution of the cases would not have been possible without the Commission’s support.
