President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, as Director of Air Mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 presidential re-election campaign.

Under the new campaign structure, Keyamo will oversee the Directorate of Air Mobilisation, while the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Olubunmi Kuku, will serve as Deputy Director I. Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar has also been appointed Deputy Director II.

The appointments were disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by Keyamo’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood.

According to the statement, the directorate will be responsible for coordinating air transportation and logistics for the campaign, including travel arrangements for designated officials and personnel across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

The directorate is also expected to work with other campaign structures to ensure smooth movement, proper scheduling and effective use of available aviation resources, while complying with relevant aviation regulations and electoral laws.

Keyamo’s Aviation Experience

The statement noted that Keyamo’s experience as the country’s aviation minister would be valuable in coordinating the directorate and managing the logistical demands of a nationwide presidential campaign.

It added that the appointment of Olubunmi Kuku and Farouk Ahmed Umar would further strengthen the directorate with aviation-sector expertise and technical experience.

“Air transportation remains an important part of national campaign logistics, particularly when campaign leaders and officials are expected to visit several locations within tight schedules,” the statement said.

The directorate is expected to maintain close cooperation with other campaign units while ensuring that all air-mobilisation activities comply with aviation safety standards and applicable laws.

The statement also stressed the need to keep campaign activities separate from official government functions, noting that all campaign-related arrangements must be carried out through properly authorised channels.

President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid is being coordinated under the APC Presidential Campaign Council, which comprises various political leaders and directorates tasked with organising the party’s campaign ahead of the general election.
