Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council, has disclosed that former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar plans to take his 2027 presidential campaign to all 36 states of Nigeria.
Shaibu made the disclosure during an interview on ARISE News on Sunday, dismissing speculation that Atiku’s campaign activities would be concentrated mainly in northern Nigeria.
He said the campaign timetable would be released soon, assuring Nigerians that every state would be included in the former vice-president’s planned engagements with voters.
“We are going to release our schedule in a few days. Or in a few hours. And you will see for yourself. You will be able to interrogate for yourself. That look, Atiku Abubakar, no state will be left out,” he stated.
According to Shaibu, the campaign would go beyond rallies in state capitals, with plans for town hall meetings, community engagements and visits to local government areas and villages.
He explained that the strategy was designed to bring Atiku closer to Nigerians, allowing him to listen to their concerns and understand the challenges confronting them.
Shaibu also pointed to the economic difficulties facing citizens across the country, arguing that hardship affects Nigerians regardless of their geographical location.
“The man who is hungry in Zamfara is the same as the man who is hungry in Lagos. Forget the noise,” he said.
Shaibu Insists Atiku’s Campaign Will Cover The Entire Country
The ADC campaign spokesman maintained that Atiku’s political appeal extended beyond the North, expressing confidence that economic concerns would be a major factor in voters’ decisions ahead of the 2027 election.
“Hungry Nigerians will vote for Atiku Abubakar. Atiku’s pathway is not limited to Northern Nigeria. Atiku’s pathway is across the length and breadth of Nigeria,” Shaibu added.
When asked about the southern states where Atiku expects to secure support, Shaibu expressed confidence in the former vice-president’s nationwide prospects.
“I will not just be bold, I will be audacious about it. Atiku will win the entire country,” he declared.
Tinubu To Attend Campaign Rallies In 12 States
Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has indicated that he will not accompany the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign team to every state, citing the need to balance electioneering with his responsibilities as president.
Tinubu made this known during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja on October 14, stressing that governance would remain a priority even as the party prepares for the 2027 general election.
“You’ve warned me not to allow the rigour of the campaign to distract me from governance, I hear you. I am in full agreement with your decision. Nigeria needs more attention now,” the President said.
He also referenced the country’s financial obligations and the need to attract investors as reasons for limiting his participation in campaign activities.
“So, you will excuse me from going everywhere with you, we have bills to pay. The American creditors cannot wait,” he added.
According to the reported campaign timetable, Tinubu is scheduled to participate in rallies across 12 states, with Kaduna listed as the first stop on October 24 and Lagos as the final destination on January 9, 2027.
As the 2027 presidential election approaches, political parties are expected to step up their campaigns and voter mobilisation efforts across the country.
