Nigerian comedian and actor Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY Comedian, has apologised to fans after his comedy show in Cardiff, United Kingdom, was disrupted. He attributed the incident to unresolved payment issues that prevented him and other performers from delivering the advertised performances.
The show, titled “AY Live: Single and Not Searching,” was part of his UK tour and was scheduled to hold on Sunday, October 25, at Valegate Retail Park in Cardiff, Wales.
In a statement posted on Instagram on Monday, AY explained that he and the other comedians travelled to the venue and eventually gained entry but were unable to perform before most of the audience left.
According to him, outstanding payment commitments caused delays, leaving the audience disappointed.
The comedian expressed regret over the incident, admitting that attendees deserved better planning and timely updates about the event.
He stressed that fans should not have been caught up in a dispute over payments, emphasising that they deserved a properly organised show.
AY also encouraged fans to watch a video in which he presented his account of the incident before forming opinions about what transpired.
Furthermore, he called on the event organisers and the UK tour management to address the situation and provide clear information for affected ticket holders, including details on possible refunds. He added that verified updates would be communicated through his official channels.
The incident reportedly sparked reactions on social media, as several attendees complained about extended waiting times and confusion at the venue.
As of Monday, the organisers had yet to issue a public statement explaining the circumstances surrounding the disruption or provide details about refund arrangements, leaving affected fans waiting for further clarification.
Despite the setback, AY maintained that the remaining dates on his UK tour were still scheduled to proceed as planned.
The upcoming shows are billed to take place in Birmingham on October 30, London on October 31, and Manchester on November 1.
The comedian also thanked his supporters for standing by him throughout his career of more than two decades, reaffirming his commitment to preserving their trust and support.
